Hello all - Please join us next week for PB Democratic Club's April meeting! We'll have informative local speakers, and will be welcoming back one of our favorites!
Omar Passons, Director of Integrative Services at San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency - We are SO excited to have Omar back with us in April. Omar is a local leader, and a lifetime San Diegan, who works every day to improve neighborhoods, to create opportunity for youth, and to make our business community more successful, more progressive, and more uniquely San Diego. He's going to fill us in on what he's been up to since his run for County Board of Supervisors last year, and also share reflections from his run for office. Join us in welcoming him back.
Karl Rand, PBDC Treasurer, PB Town Council, PB Planning Group - PBDC's own Treasurer, Karl, will be catching us up on what's going on with PB's local community groups, including the PB Town Council and PB Planning Group, both of which Karl is a member of. He'll provide us with insight on the happenings in our own neighborhood.
Loxie Gant, Activist and Founder of Forbelle Consulting - Loxie Gant is a Pacific Beach native who turned being a child victim into her adult identify of Survivor, Activist, and Advocate. She is the founder of Forbelle Consulting, offering organizations the opportunity to be proactive and use trauma-informed principles in response to Institutional Child Abuse. Loxie is also the inspiration behind AB 989, a bill currently in Sacramento. She will present on the multiple child abuse related State bills and other current local education related topics.
Our shirts are in! If you put your size in for one of our awesome new PBDC shirts, you can pick it up at the April meeting! We have some extras and will order another batch if needed. Shirts are $25, payable to PBDC.
Roosevelt Dinner - The San Diego County Democratic Party is hosting its 39th annual Roosevelt Dinner on Saturday, May 11th. This year's theme is "Building Power for the People." Please RSVP via email by April 21st (or in person at the April 4th meeting) to reserve a seat at PBDC's table. Seats are $120 per person with our Club discount, but we are happy to discuss sponsoring guests if you want to attend but are not financially able at this time. Just let us know! More info on the event can be found here:
Meals to Wheels - PBDC's community service program, Meals to Wheels, works with Jewish Family Services (JFS) to provide meals to unsheltered San Diegans living out of their vehicles who use JFS's Safe Parking Program. Our next dinner event is April 2nd, and is currently completely full. We'll be hosting another dinner event soon, so please let us know if you'd like to volunteer or donate.
Political Action Proposals - In February's General Membership Meeting, PBDC unveiled a new plan to allow club members in good-standing to continue involvement in political activism on a year-round basis on the issues that we care about most, with the backing of the Club. As promised, a Political Action page has been added to the Club's website, with instructions on how members can create their own political action proposals to propose to the Club. If there's an issue that drives you, and you feel compelled to take action on it, we hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity.

Hope to see you in April!
