November Meeting Wraps it Up

November General Meeting

Date: Thursday, November 7, 2019 Time: 6:00 pm Location: Oakmont of Pacific Beach, 955 Grand Ave, 3rd Floor, San Diego, CA 92109

Our last General Meeting of the 2019 year will be held on November 7, 2019 at Oakmont of Pacific Beach. Remember, the December Meeting is replaced by our Annual Holiday Party (see details below). We hope everyone will be able to join us for this very important meeting featuring the discussion of a variety of local topics, including the future direction of the club. Presentations will include:

  • SANDAG - A representative from SANDAG will give a presentation on housing and transportation, specifically, the "5 Big Moves" and how it might improve connectivity and quality of life for PB residents.

  • SanDiego350 - A representative from SD350 will speak on the Green New Deal, and ask the Club to vote on a resolution encouraging Rep. Scott Peters to join in support of it.

  • San Diegans for Justice - San Diegans for Justice is a ballot measure committee working to create a Commission on Police Practices in San Diego. PBDC previously voted and agreed to sign on as supporters to this proposal. A representative will provide an update on the committee's progress and information about next steps. We will also have a Club update on Criminal Justice issues and actions.

  • Lastly - our favorite topic (but we're biased): Pacific Beach Democratic Club! We'll be holding a discussion on the future of the Club, and where members would like to see the Club head as we go into what will be a crazy election year. We want to hear from you! What have you enjoyed? What would you like to see more or less of? How involved in 2020 campaigns do we want to get? Come with your thoughts and feedback :)

As always, feel free to email us at pbdc92109@gmail.com or contact us via our website with any questions. Club Updates: December Holiday Party - Come party with us! Our annual holiday party will be on Saturday, December 14th, at 6:30pm. Our awesome GO Team coordinator, Dina Feldman-Scarr, has offered to host yet again. She's located in Crown Point, and we'll send out her address closer to the event. It'll be a potluck and we'll pass out a sign up sheet at the November meeting. Feel free to send us an email or text one of us if you won't be there to sign up but still want to bring something. Please note - this party is in lieu of our regular monthly meeting; there will be no regular membership meeting for December. Club Elections - Our club elections take place at our December holiday party. We'll be voting on our elected positions - President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Please come talk to VP Christie Davis if you have any interest in running! We also have non-elected positions on the executive board that can be based on personal interest (political action, meeting with elected officials, fundraising, etc.). Please also come talk to Christie if you want to get more involved with the Club, but aren't sure where to start. January GO Team Training - Our January meeting will be a GO Team training hosted by the County party and Dina Feldman-Scarr. For more information on what this means, please see https://sdcdp.ngpvanhost.com/go-team-overview. We'll provide more information on the training agenda as it gets closer. We hope to see you in November!
