This Thursday, we will focus on building community power through action and collaboration. Also, we will hear from our local ACLU's Chief Programs & Strategy Officer, David Trujillo and our County Party Metro West Area Chair, Bernadette Butkiewicz.
Meeting Highlights:
David Trujillo - ACLU Chief Programs & Strategy Officer will help us "Get to Know Our Local ACLU."
Bernadette Butkiewicz - Metro West Area Chair wants to talk with us! Clubs to Central Committee: The interplay of the San Diego County Democratic Party.
Building Community Power - Help us build power and reinvigorate activism through collaborations with other Democratic Clubs and community organizations.
Roosevelt Dinner - Camaraderie and commitment to Democratic ideals: it was a beautiful evening!
David Trujillo - David has spent his career working on issues of social justice and has years of experience in community organizing, political campaigns and the legislative process. Prior to joining the San Diego ACLU, Trujillo served as Planned Parenthood Northern California’s public affairs director. There he was part of the campaign teams that defeated a Parental Notification Initiative in California and so-called Fetal Personhood Amendments in Montana and Mississippi. Trujillo also helped pass legislation that made California the only state in the country in the last five years to expand access to birth control and abortion services. Trujillo grew up in San Diego and has a degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.
Bernadette Butkiewicz - Bernadette is a first-generation college student. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Sonoma State University while serving four years in the Associated Student Body, lobbying for student-facing issues at the state and local levels. Bernadette’s daily focus is to serve the people of San Diego through action, leadership, and a vision of a stronger, more equitable city where underserved communities have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. Her dedication to the these people has been further cultivated through her family, education, career, and the new people she meets every day. See you next week! Your 2023 E-Board P.S.
