V. EMAIL JEN CAMPBELL to stop funding the “smart” streetlight program (send this by the afternoon of Friday, May 8th) jennifercampbell@sandiego.gov Suggested text: Dear Councilmember Campbell, Please do not vote for any additional funding for the failed “smart” streetlight program. The technology has not functioned as promised, and its use has raised serious questions about citizen’s privacy. With so many proposed budget cuts to important services such as libraries, homeless services and small business support, it is unconscionable to consider spending the mayor’s proposed $1.3 million on a project that has already cost the city $30 million. Please vote “no” on additional funding for the “smart” streetlight program! VI. ATTEND SAN DIEGANS FOR JUSTICE'S BALLOT PROPOSAL INFO SESSION on May 16th @ 12:00-1:30pm This online session will discuss the ballot proposal to create a Commission on Police Practices, the history of police oversight in San Diego, and how you can help get it on the ballot in 2020!
