John and Mark will explain how Public Power works: Separating the production of electricity from distribution and the purported savings associated the Public Power model.
John Mattes is an American investigative journalist who has won five Emmys, one Golden Mike Award, one Edward R Murrow award and 10 press club awards for exposing fraud and corruption in government. Mattes holds an advanced degree in Communication Research from the University of Wisconsin and a J.D. degree from the University of Miami. Before working for Fox, he served as a County Supervisor and city council member in Madison, Wisconsin and practiced law in Miami, Florida focusing on Public Policy Investigation.
Mark Hughes is a mechanical engineer who spent his career in the power generation industry, including a stint at Kansas City Power & Light, an investor-owned utility. The final years of his career he spent at Solar Turbines designing gas turbine control systems and working in Marketing.

Dina Feldman-Scarr will speak about voter turnout & election Integrity
Our own PBDC Speaker Engagement Chair and Go Team Leader, Dina Feldman-Scarr, will provide an update on mail-in ballots, CA's 48th congressional district, voting centers, getting out the vote and the various ways each of us can have an impact.
Dina is a San Diego native and a graduate of San Diego State University where she interned in the US Congress. She retired as a judge-mediator from her work for the California Office of Administrative Hearings. There, she primarily helped resolve disputes involving disability rights, vocational rehabilitation matters and special education issues. It was important and good work that helped many families and individuals who were impacted by extremely difficult life circumstances. She also worked as a law professor part-time where she taught conflict resolution and mediation to law students and attorneys. Dina's husband and two adult children reside in Southern California.
