Pure Water San Diego engineers to discuss the implementation of the new water recycling project coming on-line in 2025
Updates on the proposed 23-story Turquoise Tower project and related action items

The recycled water produced in the Pure Water San Diego project will start flowing this year!
The Pure Water SD engineering team will explain the water purification technology to clean recycled water to produce safe, high-quality drinking water. Let's learn about this critical infrastructure water project and how it will help stabilize our water supply. Speaker Biographies:
Andrea Demich is the Assistant Deputy Director for the City of San Diego’s Pure Water Program. In this role since 2020, Andrea has led the largest CIP Program ever undertaken by the City including the oversight of all planning, predesign, design, budget management, and program management for the Program. In her previous roles with the City of San Diego, she worked on engineering teams responsible for water and sewer predesign and pipeline design, storm drain and green infrastructure design, and storm water asset management. Andrea holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Davis and is a registered civil engineer in California.
Michael Bolouri joined the City of San Diego Public Utility Department’s Pure Water Branch as an Associate Engineer in October 2023. Michael is a licensed civil engineer with over 10 years of experience in infrastructure planning, design, and construction. He has spent 7 of these years as an employee at the City of San Diego. Prior to entering the workforce full time, Michael earned his master’s in water resources & environmental engineering. In his free time, Michael enjoys playing in an intramural basketball league, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with his two dogs.
ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 77 DELEGATE ELECTION (ADEM):
ADEM delegates will vote on statewide candidate endorsements*, statewide ballot propositions and the party platform issues including affordability/cost of living, labor/union issues and worker wages, climate change/sea level rise, strong public education, diversity/civil rights and equity issues, gun violence prevention, and opportunity for all Californians.

Biography: Our own Dina Feldman-Scarr is the Speaker Engagement Coordinator and Grassroots Organizing Team (GOTeam) Coordinator for Pacific Beach Democratic Club. She also serves as the Regional Coordinator for the GOTeam for the County Democratic Party. Dina is a San Diego native and a graduate of San Diego State University where she interned in the US Congress. Dina retired as a judge-mediator from her work for the California Office of Administrative Hearings. There, she primarily helped resolve disputes involving disability rights, vocational rehabilitation matters and special education issues. It was important and good work that helped many families and individuals who were impacted by extremely difficult life circumstances. She also worked as a law professor part time where she taught conflict resolution and mediation to law students and attorneys. Dina and her husband have two adult children who reside in Southern California.Please note: To vote in the ADEM election you MUST register by Friday, January 31, 2025 at 12pm (noon).Here’s the link: ademelections.com

"How The Unchecked Power of Sheriffs Threatens Democracy"
The Pacific Beach Dem Club is pleased to co-sponsor author and independent journalist Jessica Pishko, who will speak on “How the Unchecked Power of Sheriffs Threatens Democracy” on February 15, 2025. In her zoom presentation, Pishko will speak about the unregulated power of sheriffs , and how it relates locally in San Diego and on a national scale, particularly with regard to Trump’s deportation schemes. For more information on her work, see Pishko’s recent New Yorker article, “How Sheriffs Might Power Trump’s Deportation Machine” and/or her 2024 book, “The Highest Law In The Land: How the Unchecked Power of Sheriffs Threatens Democracy”, provides many useful insights.
