ACTIVISM RESOURCES FOR THE TRUMP YEARS

Register to receive emails, newsletters and/or texts from a few groups that exemplify your values and “Do Something!” There isn’t one website

that covers every issue, rally or protest, but the Take Action San Diego site offers plenty of local opportunities for activism.

Things are going to get chaotic, so it’s important for everyone to get comfortable seeking out actions on their own. This is a long fight—not a

quick skirmish—so now is the time to settle into a steady routine of engagement. Don’t wait for someone to hand you a to-do list. We need to

show up, take to the streets, and make ourselves visible to earn media attention.

San Diego Unified School Board President, Dr. Cody Petterson

San Diego Unified School Board President, Dr. Cody Petterson will share some of the challenges faced by the local school district as they navigate a budget deficit while dealing with the chaos of the Trump Administration and its threats to education. He will also update us on the new affordable housing plan to help district employees afford to buy a home.

Dr. Petterson represents the Pacific Beach area (as well as Point Loma, Mission Bay, La Jolla, and University City). He holds an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley, a Master of Fine Arts from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from UCSD. He sits on the Governing Board of the San Diego River Conservancy and is a former member of the Executive Committee of Sierra Club San Diego and the Board of the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego. He is a native La Jollan, ocean swimmer, native plant enthusiast, and proud father of two children—Sequoia 9, and Bardot,12.

TURQUOISE TOWER - WHAT IS THE STATUS?!?!?

Our own Karl Rand will provide an update on the proposed 23-story tower building (mostly a hotel) at 970 Turquoise Street near Cass Street.
