CYNARA KIDWELLTO SPEAK ON THE EFFECTS OF VACATION RENTALS ON THE HOUSING MARKETS IN PACIFIC BEACH AND MISSION BEACH

Biography: Cynara Kidwell is the president of the Blue Dream Democratic Club (a Democratic Club for Drug Policy Reform) and a founding board member of La Voz Democrata (a Spanish-language Democratic Club).
She and her husband live in their house in Ocean Beach, which they were lucky enough to buy during the housing crisis of 2008. She became an active proponent of regulating short-term vacation rentals (STROs) after witnessing housing prices soar in her neighborhood as many houses on her street were converted to short-term vacation rentals.
Andrea St. Julian to Speak on Rank Choice Voting
Biography: Andrea St. Julian is the co-founder and co-chair of San Diegans for Justice, a political action committee committed to strengthening criminal, electoral, and economic justice. In this capacity, Andrea played a key role in drafting the San Diego city charter amendment that created the Commission on Police Practices and helped lead efforts to place it on the 2020 election ballot. The amendment was approved by nearly 75% of voters. The Commission now provides community-led oversight of police policies and practices.
San Diegans for Justice supports the mission of its sister nonprofit, The Justice Workshop (TJW). The current focus of TJW's campaign efforts is bringing Choice Voting, a form of Proportional Ranked Choice Voting, to the City of San Diego through a 2028 ballot initiative.
